History & Roots

Sri Balaji Rice Mill was started under the able leadership of Late Sri Jugal Kishore Sarda who is said to be the pioneer of Rice mills in all of the surrounding districts of Bellary. He was in the field of Rice Industry since early 1960’s and was considered to be one of the most experienced and dynamic industrialists of that era.

His second son, Late J.K.Muralidhar Sarda, was the main force behind the starting of current Sri Balaji Rice Mill in 1980. In those periods, he was the one person who had the courage to setup big industries and worked hard with discipline and dedication for setting up the rice mill.

SBRM applied for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, and was certified with the same in 2011, thus becoming the first Rice Mill in Karnataka to be certified with both the certifications.
